Senators Vote on Number of Bills
Guam Legislature approves resolution 170 which establishes a sister-city relationship with the Philippine city of Olongapo.
Guam - Senators began voting on a number of bills today before the Veteran's day holiday. Among them was bill 147 which was passed. The measure prevents the Guam Economic Development Authority from lending money to any businesses that have previously defaulted on loans with the agency.
Also among the bills passed was bill 177 which would allow the attorney general to charge fees for A.G. clearances. One bill however did fail namely bill 95 which would've allowed the F.Q. Sanchez elementary school in Umatac to stay open for Umatac residents. Also passed was bill 108 which re-establishes the Guam Community Police Review Commission, bill 116 which authorizes the Guam census program temporary recruitment and employment of personnel for the 2010 census, and bill 176 which establishes a separate notary public revolving fund.
A few resolutions were passed as well including resolution 148 which urges the US federal Government to push for Iran to release members of the friends of Iran and to cease persecuting the Baha'i community of Iran, and resolution 170 which establishes a sister-city relationship with the Philippine city of Olongapo.
