8 seriously hurt in ’Gapo mishap

EIGHT people were seriously injured when a delivery truck crashed into a house in Olongapo City yesterday.

Police identified the victims as Arlene Custodio, 47, his son Adriane Mark, 16, Analiza Coronado, 37, and siblings John Joseph, 7, Jennamae, 16, Philip Pariola, 17, and Miguel Gatos, 16, all of Otero Avenue, this city.

The City Traffic Management Bureau said the delivery truck was loaded with construction materials.
The truck was descending Otero Avenue when its brakes failed, causing driver Elmer Dacpano, of Barangay Balic-Balic, Olongapo City, to lose control of the steering wheel. The vehicle then crashed into a concrete wall then plowed into a house next to it hitting food vendors and bystanders in the area.

The injured, including the truck driver, were rushed to the James Gordon Hospital.

The driver faces charges of reckless imprudence resulting in multiple injuries. By: Ruben A. Veloria - People's Journal
