8 Zambales fishermen missing as boat sinks off Bataan

Eight fishermen were reported missing while two of their colleagues were rescued after their fishing boat sank off Bataan province Sunday noon.

Radio dzBB cited initial reports reaching the Philippine Coast Guard Monday that the fishermen were from the MV AJ Brother, and are residents of Calapandayan village in Subic town in Zambales.

Coast Guard spokesman Commander Armand Balilo said the boat sank off Mariveles town in Bataan, when big waves caused the fishing boat to capsize and eventually sink.

Rescued by a passing boat were Diosdado Masungab and Gerardo Aresgado.

Still missing were Joseph Alboro, Noel Villa, Willie Pepito, Romy Roniorosa, isang alyas Mario, Alberto Danteros, Ricardo Fontenilla and Richard Nicolas.

As of posting time, authorities were still on search and rescue operations for the missing fishermen. - RSJ, GMANews.TV
