GSIS UNIFIED MULTI-PURPOSE IDENTIFICATION SYSTEM (UMID)-COMPLIANT eCARD
Mayor James “Bong” Gordon, Jr. led the officials and employees of the Local Government of Olongapo City in the registration and enrollment for the Unified Multi-Purpose Identification System (UMID)-compliant eCard at the Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) office at their Dinalupihan, Bataan Branch.
Mayor Gordon went through the normal process of enrollment for the UMID-compliant eCard. Like the one thousand two hundred sixty (1,260) GSIS members in the the city, Mayor Gordon stood in line, had his picture taken and wrote his signature.
UMID or Unified Multi-Purpose ID (UMID) System, a byproduct of Executive Order (EO) No. 420 which requires all government agencies and government-owned and controlled corporations to streamline and harmonize their identification systems through the use of a unified multi-purpose ID.
GSIS will replace the existing eCard Plus with UMID-compliant eCard free of charge. Once received, the UMID-compliant eCards should be activated using the upgraded G-W@PS kiosks located at all GSIS branches nationwide. And because of Mayor Gordon’s good relationship with GSIS, Olongapo was one of the first to acquire the G-W@PS Kiosk which is located at the lobby of the Olongapo City Hall.
Meanwhile, GSIS also reminded the members and pensioners that the features and benefits a member can get from the new card cannot be enjoyed by the members using the old eCard Plus. The upgraded G-W@APS kiosks will only allow transactions using the UMID-compliant eCard.
The UMID-compliant eCard is a multipurpose card which can be used for loan applications, viewing of GSIS records and for renewal of active status of pensioners. The said eCard may also functions as ATM card, a debit card, hospitalization and medicine discount card, and an education benefit card, among others.
After enrollment, members will receive their UMID-compliant eCard from liason officers while pensioners will get theirs through snail mail.
In response to members and pensioner’s appeal for financial assistance, GSIS will give loans to UMID-compliant eCard holders.
Members can get a P 10,000. 00 cash advance loan after eCard activation. They should GSIS members for at least five (5) years to qualify for the loan.
