VM CAJUDO: A DYNAMIC LEADER

Mayor James “Bong” Gordon, Jr. and the Sangguniang Panlungsod commended Vice Mayor Cynthia G. Cajudo for her extensive service to Olongapo.

VM Cajudo started as Councilor on 1980 to 1986 about the time of Edsa Revolution. When everything was back to normal and the political turmoil was over, Cajudo, again, served as councilor and in September 1989 was appointed as vice mayor replacing then Vice Mayor Crispin Elizaga. On January 28, 1991, Cajudo has officially been appointed as vice mayor of the city.

When, then mayor Richard Gordon was chosen to be chairman and administrator of Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA) and the Subic Bay Freeport, Cajudo took charge and assumed the mayoralty position from July 1, 1993 to March 21, 1995.

Protecting the rights and welfare of women and children were only two of the many advocacies of VM Cajudo while in office. She pushed for the institution of the “Anti-Indecency Board”, a body which aims to stop prostitution and close establishments staging lewd and indecent shows.

Being daughter of a war veteran, VM Cajudo also gave special attention to the “Veterans Affairs Committee”. In fact, she delegated herself to look after the welfare of war veterans and pay homage to their heroism.

From 1995 to 2004 and from 2007-2010, Cajudo untiringly served Olongapo as vice mayor. And, under her leadership and together with the members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod of Olongapo, she has given the city great pride by winning “The Most Outstanding Sanggunian-Highly Urbanized Category” from 2007-2009 for Region 3 and came in 3rd Place over-all in the national level.

Because of her reliable and exemplary performance as leader of the Sangguniang Panlungsod, VM Cajudo was also given recognition for her ‘’Dynamic Leadership’’ from ‘’The Konrad Adenauer Stiftung’’ and ‘’The Local Government Development Foundation.

‘’Ibang misyon naman ang aking haharapin. Andito lang ako at patuloy pa ring maglilingkod sa Olongapo,’’ concluded VM Cajudo.

Vice Mayor Cynthia Cajudo receives a Resolution of Commendation for serving the City of Olongapo for more than thirty years both in the legislative and executive functions. With VM Cajudo are Mayor Bong Gordon, First Lady Anne Gordon, members of the City Council, staff and her family.
