No Intoxicating Drinks for Minors
Section 1 and 3 of City Ordinance number 46 series of 1995, “An Ordinance prohibiting any person below 18 years of age to drink alcoholic beverages and intoxicating liquors in any saloon, bar, inn, café, restaurant and similar establishments or in any public place, and for other purpose” has been amended last July 23, 2010 at the regular session of the City Council Olongapo.
The said amendments was signed and approved by Mayor James “Bong” Gordon Jr., as Ordinance No. 18 series of 2010 last August 6, 2010. “This is a campaign to keep away the youth from any vices at an early age”, Mayor Gordon said.
The revision was made to clearly identify the contents of each section. Section 1 states that any person below eighteen (18) years of age is prohibited to drink alcoholic beverages and intoxicating liquors in any saloon, bar, inn, café, restaurants and similar establishments, or in public place, nor shall any owner, proprietor and maintainer of said establishment or public place allow to sell and serve alcoholic beverages and intoxicating liquors to any person below eighteen (18) years of age. Any valid government identification card shall be presented for validity of the consumer’s age.
Section 3 states any violation of the provisions of this ordinance shall be penalized as follows:
a. First Offense – Php1, 000.00 and written warning for the establishment
b. Second Offense – Php2, 000.00 and two weeks suspension for the establishment
c. Third Offense – Php3, 000.00 and one (1) month suspension for the establishment
d. Fourth Offense – Php5, 000.00 and closure of the establishment
The amendments of the ordinance are made to be more effective and strictly followed by the public.
