OLONGAPO BAGS 19 GOLD MEDALS AT CLRAA MEET

Olongapo City won 19 gold , 22 silver and 27 bronze medals in the recently-concluded Central Luzon Regional Athletic Association (CLRAA) 2011 in Malolos, Bulacan.

The triumphant athletes who bagged gold medals in swimming events are Helena Raine Teope, Allaissa Jane Andrade, Jamleth Marie Villanueva, Anne Denise Deldio, Julius Bakuteza, Dy Latinazo and Stephanie Brianne Saliba.

Cristabelle Marie Paulino and Crisabelle Paulino, twins, won the gold for the doubles lawn tennis and Gian Paolo Aquino for the singles lawn tennis.

Jan Mark Pajareto clinched the gold for boxing and Ferdie Labandia in Arnis.

Janna Dominique Olivia and Yoly Lundang also grabbed the gold in the Taekwondo event.

Mentally-challenged Christian Avila won 2 gold medals for shot put and Athletics, particularly in the 400 meter dash.

A total of 8,000 elementary and secondary student-athletes from the provinces of Bataan, Olongapo City, Nueva Ecija, Aurora, Pampanga, Tarlac, Zambales, Angeles, Cabanatuan, Bulacan, San Jose Del Monte, San Fernando, Gapan, Tarlac, Muñoz, Malolos, Balanga and San Jose participated in the said six-day sports meet.

All of the athletes who took home gold medals in their respective sports will represent Region III in the Palarong Pambansa which is scheduled in Dapitan City, Zamboanga Del Norte on May 2011.
