New SBMA team seeks support of LGUs around Subic Freeport

Subic Bay Freeport Zone – The team of newly installed Subic Bay Metropolitan  Authority (SBMA) Chairman Feliciano Salonga and Adminstrator Armand Arreza started calling on nearby local government units to seek their cooperation in the efforts at attaining continuous progress of the Freeport and the nearby communities.

Salonga and Arreza made the rounds and visited Olongapo City Mayor James “Bong” Gordon, Jr. and Subic Mayor Jeffrey Khonghun.

Arreza said that the courtesy calls were part of bith his and Salonga’s initiative to draw the involvement of the nearby communities (Subic, Bataan, and Olongapo) in the Freeport’s programs and activities.

“our relationship with Subic and Olongapo goes beyond the gates. Our success is their success, too. Almost all workers at the Freeport came from the nearby localities, and it would be an advantage if both parties,” he said.

Arreza cited ongoing efforts to forge partnerships not only with the LGU’s but also with the communities surrounding the Freeport.

“we are trying to renew our partnerships with all groups, communities around us, sort our differences and focus on work,” he said.

Salonga said that his Endeavour to be a working chairman works well with his partner, Arreza. “We both have the same agenda for SBMA and that is to fix it and make it better”. Salonga said.

Salonga took note of the importance of learning immediately the ropes of their new jobs, “Were like new managers, studying and trying to learn a lot from this new job.”

Meanwhile, Mayor Gordon acknowledges the visits of the new officials, saying this would be the just continuation of an already “tried and tested” working relationship between Olongapo and the Freeport.

Khonghun vowed his support for the new SBMA relationship, saying his town will exert efforts to work closely with the new officials.

  • is it possible for contractors to construct within sbma without sbma accreditation? there are contractors presently working without such accreditation. this may be unfair to small contractors. i am referring to NSD project wherein erection contractors does not have such accreditation. their workers doesn,t have SSS or philhealth.
