INCLUDING ONE IN OLONGAPO

The Land Transportation Office announced on Friday the closure of 15 private emission-testing centers for violating several provisions in the Clean Air Act.

LTO chief Anneli Lontoc said the Department of Transportation and Communications issued the suspension order, based on the reports of the monitoring teams tasked to keep an eye on private emission-testing centers nationwide.

Among those given suspension orders was the Autosources ETC on Scout Borromeo, EDSA, Quezon City, the only center suspended in Metro Manila.

Other centers include Darren Migs Motor Vehicle and Emission Testing Center in Malolos, Bulacan; Pangasinan Emission System MPC, Urdaneta, Pangasinan; JPV Motor Vehicle ETC & Car Ctr. Naval, Biliran; Bloom MPCI Emission Testing Ctr., Bajac-Bajac, Olongapo City; GL Emission Testing Center in Balayan, Batangas.

In the Visayas and Mindanao areas were the Winner Maintek Motorshop Corp. and San Roque Emission Testing Center in Cebu City; Tagum Emission Testing Center and Udenna Holding Corp. in Tagum City; Graham Emission Testing Center in San Jose, Antique; Eastern Visayas Emission Testing Center and RRRED Emission Testing Center in Tagbilaran City and Graham Emission Testing Center in Kalibo, Aklan.

These centers were found operating either with expired mayor’s permits, defective smoke-machine testers and have been doing "nonappearance testing." Jefferson Antiporda, ABS-CBN
