Freeport employee abducted, raped, slain

An employee of a Subic Bay Freeport locator was reportedly abducted, raped and killed by five suspected New People's Army rebels Sunday.

The body of Aimee Fajardo, of 243 Manggahan, Subic, Zambales, was found at 4 a.m. at the Porac-Gumain control dike in Sitio Malalaba, Purok 5, Barangay Remedios, by Renante and his brother Marvin Lansangan.

The victim bore three gunshot wounds in the head from a 9mm pistol.

Reports said the victim, together with co-workers from Top Mechatronics Corp., a Japanese electronic firm in the Freeport Zone, attended a farewell party given by her friends for her last day in the firm after finishing a five-month contract.

At 1 a.m. Sunday, the group composed of two women and three men was waiting for a jeepney ride when a van with five unidentified armed men suddenly appeared. The suspects identified themselves as NPA members. They then divested the five of their personal belongings, identification cards and clothes.

The suspects then grabbed the two women but one of them screamed. Her male companions ran away. Only Fajardo was taken by the suspects.

The Zambales Criminal Investigation and Detection Team is investigating the incident. JOURNAL.COM

  • What security measures so far has the SBMA taken to prevent recurrence of this incident. This is a big blow to the SBMA as a whole. Security lapses are evident in all gates of SBMA. So you can never tell now that you are safe in SBMA.

  • This incident DID NOT happen inside SBMA but along National Hi-way, Brgy Kalaklan (in front of one of the beaches) SBMA is still considered to be safe.
