US Navy Ship USS Harpers Ferry is moored in Subic Bay while en route to Philippine Island of Leyte

U.S Navy Ship USS Harpers Ferry is moored pier-side in Alava Wharf, Subic Bay Freeport while en route to the Philippine Island of Leyte. USS Harpers Ferry and USS Essex were ordered into the area to provide much needed humanitarian assistance for the victims of a devastating landslide. The stench of death hung over a village of 1,800 people in the central Philippines on Saturday, a day after a torrent of mud and rock from a rain-soaked mountainside engulfed homes and a crowded school.
