SKILLS TRAINING


Olongapo City Mayor James "Bong" Gordon, Jr. and Project Manager Anne Marie Gordon is joined by Hanjin representatives and local officials in the opening rites of the Olongapo Skills Training Center at West Bajac-Bajac, Olongapo City.


Local Arc Welding Trainee tries his skill in welding vertical plate using E-6011 electrode as Mayor Gordon and other trainees observe his technique during a regular training session which will culminate in trainees taking the competency assessment to be administered by TESDA. To date, more than 1, 400 have applied to undergo the training sponsored by the city government of Olongapo.

Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA) Administrator Armand Arreza (R-L), Olongapo Vice Mayor Rolen Paulino, TESDA Regional Director Bares and Councilor Edwin J. Piano observe a Korean instructor of Hanjin Heavy Industries and Construction Company - Philippines (HHIC-Phil) demonstrate the use of Flux Cord Arc Welding (FCAW) machine. A high speed low maintenance machine for ship building being use in world-class shipyards. The first batch of local trainees will undergo required training in welding, pipefitting, sandblasting and painting in addition to general lectures in safety, blueprint reading and standard procedures in ship building. The ultra modern training center was built by HHIC-Phil at a cost of forty million pesos (P40M) in Subic, Zambales. The center's inauguration last July 2, 2006 marked the start of 3-month formal training for the 100 selected trainees.

  • to whom it may concern ,my nephew just finished his automotive vocational course and now his looking for a lpace where he can practice his skills they just come back from manila, my nephew was born in olongapo they left olongapo when my brother in-law lost his job inside the base.please help them to start thier life again in olongapo.thank you so much ..nelia olimpo
