BAWAT HAKBANG PARA SA KABATAAN

Mahigit anim na libong (6,000) Olongapeño ang naglakad ng may limang (5) kilometro simula sa Rizal Triangle Covered Court at bumaybay sa kahabaan ng Rizal Avenue diretso papasok sa Subic Bay Freeport Zone (SBFZ) tahak ang Rizal Gate patungo sa SBMA Boardwalk bilang end-point at venue ng Alay-Lakad 2006 program.

Ang ‘’walk-for-a-cause’’ ay nilahukan ng mga opisyales at kawani ng Olongapo City Government, SBMA Personnel, kapulisan, mga guro at estudyante, mga barangay officials, Sanggunian Kabataan (SK), NGOs at civic organizations na sama-samang naglakad nitong ika-8 ng Oktubre 2006.

Eksaktong ika-anim ng umaga ay sinimulan ang paglalakad sa pangunguna ni City Mayor James ‘’Bong’’ Gordon, Jr. at Alay-Lakad 2006 Executive Committee Chairperson Lion Carlos Gamboa kasama ang bumunuo ng Lion’s Club International, District 301-D1-Region I bilang lead ornanization ng Alay-Lakad 2006.

Sa pamamagitan ng isang programa ay nagbigay ang Alay-Lakad Foundation, Inc. (ALFI) ng Certificate of Appreciation sa mga nakibahaging grupo at indibidwal kabilang na ang:

• Highest Contributor (Group) – Rotary Club of Olongapo
• Highest Contributor (Individual) – Vic Tengue of Victoria Trading
• Early Bird Contributor (Group) – Asinan Elementary School

• Most Colorful Group (High School) – Barretto National High School
• Most Colorful Group (Elementary) – Boy Scout of the Philippines, Olongapo Wesley School
• Most Disciplined Group – Federation of Senior Citizen’s Association of the Philippines (FSCAP)
• Youngest Participants – Jannamarie Arizabal – 4 years old
• Oldest Participants – Aurea Janilla – 79 years old
• Chairman’s Award – Fe H. De Paz – Alay-Lakad Secretariat

Ang Alay-Lakad 2006 na may temang ‘’Sa Bawat Hakbang, Kabuhayan Para sa Kabataan’’ ay inorganisa ng Alay-Lakad Foundation, Inc. (ALFI) upang makalikom ng donasyon mula sa mga kalahok at iba pang fund- raising activity tulad ng Bingo Social upang suportahan ang mga out-of-school-youth sa mga proyektong pangkabuhayan, scholarship at technical skill seminars na ibinibigay ng ALFI.

Bunga ng mga pondong nalilikom nito ay ipinakilala sina Nice de Omania na ngayon ay naglilingkod sa James l. Gordon Memorial Hospital (JLGMH) bilang Nurse gayundin si Mylin Gamboa na isa nang guro ng Olongapo City Elementary School na ilan lamang sa mga Alay-Lakad Scholars.

Ang pamahalaang lokal sa pamamagitan ni Mayor Bong Gordon ay nagbigay ng walang puknat na pagsuporta sa lahat ng mga proyekto ng ALFI para sa kinabukasan ng mga kabataan ng Olongapo.

Pinangunahan ni Mayor Bong Gordon at ng Lion’s Club International, District 301-D1-Region I bilang lead organization ang isinagawang Alay-Lakad 2006 nitong ika-8 ng Oktubre 2006 na nilahukan rin ng ibat-ibang departamento at NGOs ng lungsod kabilang na ang: INSET: 1) Olongapo City Police Office 2) Rotary Club of Downtown Olongapo 3) Public Utilities Department.
