Trader couple gunned down in Olongapo City
A couple engaged in trading and lending businesses was ambushed by two still unidentified motorcycle-riders while traversing the national highway in Purok 6, Barangay Cabalan, this city, Tuesday night.
Sr. Supt. Angelito Pacia, Olongapo City police director, identified the victims as reserve Army officer 1st Lt. Fernando Timbang, 52, and wife Maria Luzette, 50, incumbent chairman of the 350,000-member Subic Bay Multi-Purpose Cooperative, vice president for administration of the Subic Montessori and owner of Bonzette Pawn Shop and chains of general merchandise stores all located in this city.
Pacia said around 7 p.m., while the victims were on their way home to Barangay Culis, Hermosa, Bataan on board their Honda CRV (WCV-179), two armed men riding a single motorcycle tailed them and at close range, riddled them with bullets.
The couple suffered multiple gunshot wounds in the different parts of their body from a caliber 45 pistol.
They were rushed to the James Gordon Memorial Hospital but were pronounced dead on arrival by attending physician Dr. Al Ganaca.
Recovered from the crime scene were six empty shells from a caliber .45 pistol.
Police initial investigation indicated no signs of robbery because the personal belongings of the victim were intact inside their vehicle.
The city police were still conducting a follow-up operation as to the motive of the killings and possible identity of the suspects. (PNA)
