6 Zambales villages to vanish?

IBA, Zambales – At least six villages in San Narciso town could be erased from the map should the government fail to repair the lahar protective dikes damaged by floods in 2006.

Gov. Amor D. Deloso said these areas have been fully covered by volcanic debris.

These are barangays Namatacan, Grullio, Alusiis, San Pascual, Dalipawen and La Paz.

β€œIt is disheartening to note that the Arroyo administration has obviously failed to provide necessary projects for anti-lahar and maintenance purposes in Zambales. Instead, they are building a high-rise and long bridge costing P280 million spanning the heavily silted Nacolcol river which has no water underneath,” he said.

La Paz was submerged in floodwaters for weeks last year triggering massive evacuation of residents.
