'Congress blast warning to all gov't officials'
SENATOR Dick Gordon who is here as keynote speaker of the Regional Tourism Forum spoke of the seriousness of the Congress bombing, saying it shows the "the bastion of people's protection can be easily attacked."
Gordon, however, has a stern warning to all his fellow government officials. "Galit na ang mga tao (People are just mad)," he added.

He was with a group of young entrepreneurs when he made his opening statement and evidently he was referring to the incompetence, inaction, and vulnerability to corruption of every government and political institutions in responding to people's needs.
"While we condemn the bombing but this could also mean that people just want change," Gordan said.
Gordon also discussed the issue in a press conference, where he was asked about cleanliness as an essential of tourism.
"If I become president, the Pasig River will become very clean. But let me ask you, how do we start? I suggest you don't wait for your 'incompetent' government. You can do something about the cleanliness of rivers. On your own, you can get your acts together," Gordon said.
"We have done this in Subic. I have cleansed the Intramuros of human waste. Why can't Bacolod do the same? Are you so different from other provinces that you can't clean your rivers, coastlines, your streets, among others?" he also said.
Gordon stressed, "Act on your own."
Gordon also explained the benefits of a local government unit (LGU) should it wish to convert into an eco-tourism zone under the 'Tourism Act 2007' which is still pending in the Senate.
"For LGUs to avail of monetary benefits, it must first declare itself a tourism zone and accomplish pertinent requirements of being one," Gordon said.
"Also, the Tourism Act will appropriate budget for extensive promotion of a certain locality," he added.
"Bottom line here is increase in employment opportunities and the transformation of an LGU as a tourist destination."
Gordon, however, stressed, that "Waay kayod, waay kaon (We've got to work hard or we don't eat at all)."
"Bawal ang tamad, lalong bawal ang tanga (We don't tolerate laziness and stupidity). I'm referring to work ethics and the development of skills, not just education for a diploma," he further stressed. By Gil Alfredo B. Severino - Sun Star
