MANILA, Philippines -- Cisco is set to show off its latest networking technologies housed in a 40-foot, 20-ton truck that will tour different cities in the country.

Called Cisco Express Network-on-Wheels, this mobile networking showcase is currently on a year-long tour across 30 cities in Asia Pacific. In the Philippines, its three-week roadshow begins next week.

With this tour, Cisco is looking to pique the interest of local companies, especially those from the small and medium business segment or SMBs.

Cisco is looking to expand its market outside of enterprise companies, which has been the bulk of its installed base. As technology reaches down to smaller users, Cisco wants to demonstrate its products can also scale down to this market segment.

“Instead of bringing our customers to Singapore or even here in Manila, this is their chance to get a first-hand look and demos of unified communications and more of our IP-based solutions,” said Luichi Robles country manager for Cisco Philippines.

The tour will begin in Bonifacio, Global City, where Cisco hopes to attract IT people from call centers and other BPO (business process outsourcing) companies.

From there, the truck will move Makati, Ortigas Center, Subic (Olongapo), Quezon City and the roadshow will end in Sta. Rosa, Laguna.

"At every stop, we are hoping to attract people from various industries. In Subic and Sta. Rosa, for example, we want to attract semicon companies and others located in these economic zones," Robles said.
