Fire has never been this hot
That night, Subic resembled the usual party night in Makati.

While all was thinking it couldn’t be done, Saatchi did it anyway!
It was Friday, Nov. 23. All the hotshots in the advertising world were choosing a party to go to on their third night at the 20th Philippine Advertising Congress in Subic. After all, all the talks were over. Everyone already had a photo-op with famous graphic novelist Neil Gaiman, who was a speaker at the event. It was finally time to unwind.
That night, Subic resembled the usual party night in Makati. The biggest brands threw separate bashes to celebrate the congress’ New Order theme. GMA-7 even sponsored a dinner. The sleeper hit, however, was when Ace Saatchi & Saatchi set Subic on fire.
Just a few paces from the Subic Exhibition and Convention Center, the industry party of the year, tagged “Fire,” hosted by the “hothouse of world-changing creative ideas,” was happening at the beautiful canvas that was Subic Holiday Villas. The poolside was transformed into a Miami-inspired lounge area, complete with recliners, throw pillows, swags, cabanas and lamps.
Colors flooded the venue with splashes of bright pinks, greens, oranges and blues. Light was strategically diffused through cylindrical floor, hanging and table lamps. The dominator majestically commanded people to join the shindig.
The exceptional bar was overflowing with different types of beverages. There was the obligatory vodka tonic, tequila and beer. But there was more. Much more! Also in profusion were seven kinds of wines and spirits, two whiskies, Liquore alla Crema and Cellini di Sicilla.
Cuero Manos, a percussions band, opened the night with their exceptional sound and rhythmic progression. Toward the end of their set, fire dancers came out and mesmerized the audience as they literally played with fire.
To everyone’s surprise and delight, the voice-over announced that an international DJ was going to be spinning for them. Cheers and applause became louder as DJ Johnboy Lee of Team Bigfish took the booth. Eminent for spinning vocal and deep house, Lee beckoned the crowd to get off their cushions and head to the dance floor.
As the DJ’s three-hour set was about to come to a close, Cuero Manos and the fire dancers returned for an encore. In seamless transition, all the performers were jamming. Saatchi’s very own Kristine Belmonte even sang an ambient version of “Mas Que Nada,” accompanied by the superb percussionists.
Guests, comprised of congress delegates and speakers, industry leaders, members of the Saatchi family and friends, found the event the perfect opportunity to relax and have a Friday night party at par with those they are used to in Manila. It was the time to put the competitive differences aside and socialize with other people in the trade. For one night of fun and carousing, Saatchi united the whole advertising universe.
The night ended with everyone getting a Saatchi gift bag, a considerable dose of alcohol in their systems, an enthralling musical journey and a mesmerizing visual treat. This is one fiery party to beat!
