20% Discount on RPTs extended
Olongapo City Taxpayers had been requesting the city to extend the 20% discount on payment of Real Property Taxes which ended January 2, 2008
The long holidays last December 2007 and the delay of remittances from abroad were reasons cited by taxpayers for not being able to pay their RPTs in advance as they usually do.
To address their constituents request, the city council passed an ordinance sponsored by Councilor Edwin Piano, extending until February 15, 2008 the 20% discount on advance payment of Real Property Taxes (RPTs). City Treasurer Marcel Andawi on his report to the Sanggunian estimated that around P12million collection will be realized on the first month of the year because of this program which was approved by City Mayor James Gordon, Jr.
