Task Force Conducts Tourism Workshop
Olongapo City’s Task Force Tourism headed by City Councilor Gina Perez conducted a Planning Workshop last January 3 at White Rock Beach Resort.
In the said workshop, the heads of member agencies assessed their strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats relative to their possible contributions towards a progressive tourism industry of the city.
Member agencies are likewise preparing for the tourism programs of the city government under the administration of Mayor Bong Gordon.
The city’s Tourism Task Force believes that early planning is necessary in order to boost the tourism industry of the city.
The workshop was participated in by heads and representatives from different member agencies of the task force namely, Kgd. Gina Perez, Kaye Reyes of the City Tourism Office, Yang Elane of the City Museum, Marlon Bravo of the City Convention Center, Marlyn Osio of Beautification Office and Mon Zaballa of the Parks and Playgrounds Office.
The a aforementioned agencies are tourism related city government offices: Task Force Tourism and City Tourism Office as the leading agency, City Museum which showcases the culture and colorful history of Olongapo, City Convention Center as the venue of historical and cultural events in the city, Beautification Office which maintains the cleanliness and orderliness of the city, and Parks and Playgrounds Office which takes care of the city’s recreational parks.
Mayor Gordon revived the Task Force Tourism with Perez as the chair last November 2007.
