CDA, BIR Conduct Seminar on Cooperatives Taxation
Cooperative Development Authority (CDA) conducted a Seminar on Cooperative Taxation in coordination with the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) last February 6, 2008 at the FMA Hall of the City Hall.
Mayor James “Bong” Gordon, Jr. gave full support leading to the success of the said seminar attended by cooperatives from Olongapo City, Subic Bay Freeport Zone and the towns of Castillejos, San Marcelino, San Antonio and San Narciso.
CDA District Officer Edmond Engao and BIR District Officer Edgardo Tolentino led the said activity. The seminar aims to establish excellent partnership between the BIR and the cooperative groups.
Among the topics discussed were clarifications regarding tax exemptions of the cooperatives as well as issues concerning taxation of their savings. A proposal on the provision of a ‘cooperative desk’ in the office of the BIR was also raised.
“We are thankful for Mayor Gordon’s unwavering support for the cooperative m0vements and activities of CDA,” CDA District Officer Engao said.
