Olongapo City Mayor James “Bong” Gordon, Jr. and First Lady and Zambales Vice Governor Anne Gordon manifested their intense support for Olongapo athletes in the Central Luzon Athletic Association (CLRAA) Meet 2008 at Palayan City, Nueva Ecija.

Together with City Councilors Rodel Cerezo, Edwin Piano, Elmo Aquino, Gie Baloy and Ellen Dabu and other city officials, Mayor Bong Gordon and Vice Governor Anne Gordon took a long trip to Nueva Ecija in time for the opening of the CLRAA Meet this February 17. “We would like to personally extend our support for the young athletes of our city,” Mayor Gordon said.

In a prestigious and colorful opening program of the CLRAA Meet 2008, the city officials led some 480 Olongapeño athletes. From the long parade through the formal opening of the said athletic event, Mayor Gordon and Vice Governor Anne took active participation along with the city’s young athletes.

“Our young athletes need to know that we support them. This is one way of letting them feel that we are with them all the way,” Mayor Gordon said.

Meanwhile, personalities who welcomed the athletes from the different cities and provinces of Region 3 were Department of Education Undersecretary Antonio Inocentes, Palayan City Mayor Romeo Capinpin, Nueva Ecija Governor Aurelio Matias Umali and Nueva Ecija Vice Governor Edward Joson.

The events and activities for CLRAA Meet 2008 will last until February 22. Winners will move on to Palarong Pambansa 2008 to be held at Palawan.
