Arroyo rejects resignation of PASG chief Villar
President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo rejected Thursday afternoon the resignation of Presidential Anti-Smuggling Group (PASG) undersecretary Antonio Villar Jr.
Deputy Presidential Spokeswoman Lorelei Fajardo said Villar, who announced his decision to step down over the "boorish" treatment he received from some lawmakers who he claimed were affected by the PASG anti-smuggling operations, still enjoys the full confidence of the President.
"Her (President Arroyo's) desire is for him to stay. Undersecretary Villar enjoys the confidence of the President because he is doing a good job," Fajardo said.
"His unwavering fight against smuggling has tremendously impacted on unlawful practices of some of our traders," the Palace official added.
Villar claimed Albay Rep. Al Francis Bichara and Zambales Rep. Ma. Milagros Magsaysay are just "hurting" from the PASG campaign that is why they threatened to have him arrested and to have his office abolished.
"I don't want to add to the President's problems. She has enough. I think it will be best if I resigned and kept silent so that they can do what they want," Villar said.
Bichara owns four of the alleged smuggled luxury vehicles - two Grand Cherokee, a Volvo and a Jaguar- that PASG seized in 2007.
Magsaysay, on the other hand, was allegedly angered by the group's operations in Subic against some warehouse owners suspected of smuggling goods into the Freeport.
"We are currently doing an inventory on 15 warehouses in Subic and we heard that this angered Rep. Magsaysay. Maybe the owners are her friends or she is connected with them," he said. - Alena Gonzales, GMANews.TV

Halimbawa nang ukay-ukay at used vehicles? aside from koleksyones from huweteng? hmmmm....
Sana huwag na siya ulit magsalita, nakakahiya lang siya...baka magkabukuhan pa!
