Baguio Bets strike Anew

SUBIC – Baguio City sustained its golden surge in the Central Northern Luzon qualifying games of the 3rd Philippines Olympic Festival after pocketing five more gold medals in athletics Thursday at the Remy Field here.

Oliver Gabriel and Eduardo Ferrer won gold medals in the boys’ javelin throw and 200 meter dash, respectively, to join long jumper Maria Melissa Naputo in the elite club of double-gold medalists for Baguio.

Gabriel followed up his golden effort in the shot put with a 48.38-meter hurl in the javelin throw, almost five meters ahead of Ilocos Norte be Abner Coloma (43.90-m) and Cesar Espejo of Ilocos Norte (43.81-m).

“I trained hard for this because I want to be a part of the National Team.” Said the 16-year-old Gabriel.
