KNIGHTSBRIDGE INT’L DONATES WHEELCHAIRS

Knightsbridge International has donated more wheelchairs to Olongapo City.

Through the initiative of Mayor James “Bong” Gordon, Jr. and cooperation of the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO), ten (10) persons-with-disability (PWD) in the city received imported wheelchairs worth P40,000 each from Knightsbridge International led by Sir Edward Artis.

Among the beneficiaries of the wheelchairs are Jose de Leon, Anita Rayala, Ricardo Escalante, Nelson Marmeto, Wilson Lapenas Alejandro Lawaan, Rogelio Ojanola, Nemesia Bernal, Iñigo Rosas and Resty Cuevas. They received their wheelchairs during the flag raising ceremony of city officials and employees on Monday.

“Our PWD’s deserve to be given care and attention for they are as important as other people. They are just physically unable but they can do things that abled persons cannot do. They are also members of our society, hence, they must be provided social services,” Mayor Gordon said.

The Mayor likewise asked the beneficiaries to return the wheelchairs to the city government once they can already walk so that other PWD’s can also use them.

The City Government under Mayor Gordon’s administration aims to make Olongapo a PWD-friendly city. Among the city’s programs and projects for PWD’s in the city are livelihood and employment opportunities.

It can be recalled that Knightsbridge international has donated to the city not only wheelchairs but other medical equipment, as well.
