19 face smuggling raps--Customs
MANILA, Philippines -- Three cases have been filed against alleged smugglers by the Bureau of Customs, its commissioner said Friday in his report to President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.
Rey Teves told the President in her visit to the BoC office that the cases, with a total of 19 respondents, involved the unlawful importation of sports utility vehicles and passenger cars, which was estimated at P3.5 million; unlawful importation of sugar, at P11.85 million; and falsification of public documents that included the submission of tampered/falsified Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA) certificate of registration and tax exemption.
