Subic Shabu suspect's house yields cigarettes, liquor
OLONGAPO CITY, Philippines - Authorities found cigarettes and liquor inside Anthony Ang's home, but none of the high grade shabu that was confiscated from the principal drug suspect's vehicle and warehouse inside the Subic Bay Freeport last week.
Ang is the principal suspect in the foiled P4.2 billlion drug bust, which the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) describe as the biggest catch of shabu in the country's history.
The search conducted by PDEA was done a full week since Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA) and Presidential Anti-Smuggling Group (PASG) operatives seized some 714.6 kilos of high grade shabu with a street value of about P4.2 billion.
PDEA sources said that the search "took too long." Of the total 714.6 kilos of shabu seized last week, some 600 kilos were found by SBMA and PASG operatives inside a warehouse owned by Hua Long International, a company owned by Ang.
Reporters covering the event complained that unlike the previous operations, mediamen were barred from witnessing the event.
Records showed that RTC Branch 75 judge Raymund Viray issued the warrant Tuesday night. Authorities here said that they will also ask the court's permission to search several of Ang's offices inside the Freeport. - John Bayarong, GMANews.TV
