ADDITIONAL TEN PERCENT IN GOVERNMENT EMPLOYEE’S WAGES

Mayor James “Bong” Gordon Jr. recently announced the good news to local government employees. Effective July 01, 2008, a ten percent (10%) increase on the salaries of the local government’s regular and casual employees.

“The salary increase will come from the city’s generated income and not from the national government,” City Treasurer Marcelino Andawi said, “It amounts to some P 11M.”

The local government has eight hundred seventy five (875) and six hundred (600) casual employees, all of whom will benefit from the salary hike.

The local government employees expressed delight with Mayor Gordon’s announcement. “It simply attests to the mayor’s priorities when it comes to the welfare of those who render public service,” said Engr. Wency Paule of Environmental and Sanitation Management Office (ESMO).

The increased city generated income is a manifestation of the city’s efficient income generating projects and revenue collection, the effects of which are not only felt by government employees but by the whole City with its positive impact on the economy.
