OLONGAPO PREPARES FOR ESEA

The city of Olongapo, led by Mayor James “Bong” Gordon Jr., has shifted to high gear in preparations for the East and Southeast Asia (ESEA) Conference in November.

“We have to prepare for November. November is a very important month. Inimbitahan natin ang iba’t-ibang mga mayors ng mga lungsod ng East and South East Asia upang magsagawa ng conference dito sa lungsod ng Olongapo,” Mayor Gordon said.

Mayor Gordon is encouraging Olongapeños, particularly the barangay and business sectors to give their full support in the preparations for ESEA.

“Kailangan pati kaloob-looban iayos natin dahil pupunta doon ang mga mayors. Pati na rin ang mga major thoroughfares dapat iayos at pinturahan ng panibago para maging maayos,” Mayor Gordon added.

The Olongapo City Convention Center, the major venue of the conference, will be undergoing renovations for the event.

ESEA comprises of local government units of seven (7) countries in Southeast Asia. It aims to promote innovative ways in local government administration and exchange of information between member cities regarding effective ways of local governance.

Olongapo City is the only member local government unit from the Philippines.

Members of ESEA include LGU’s in Malaysia, Korea, Vietnam, Singapore and Indonesia.
