SUBIC JOBS FAIR
SUBIC BAY FREEPORT – Hundreds of jobseekers flocked to the Subic Bay EXHIBITION AND Convention Center at the start of the two-day Jobs Fair 2008 here yesterday hoping to find gainful employment in the companies and businesses located in the Freeport Zone.
A project of Senator Richard J. Gordon, Buhay Partylist Rep. Carissa Coscolluela and the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA) under the sponsorship of WOW Card Inc., the job generating activity was participated in by more than 20 Freeport locators which set up individual booths to accommodate interested applicants from Olongapo, Zambales and Bataan.
The Jobs Fair was supervised by the Department of Labor and Employment, Tesda and the Public Employment Service Office.
Evelyn Delos Santos, Olongapo PESO head, said the fair facilitated the evaluation and interview of job applicants.
Gordon announced that similar Jobs Fair will be conducted in other parts of the country.
“One of the most effective ways of addressing the problem of poverty in the country is by creating jobs and opportunities for our people,” he said.
Olongapo City is scheduled to hold its Jobs Fair on October 3, Iba, Zambales on October 9, and Balanga, Bataan on October 18.
The event also marked the launching of the Job@8s website at URL www.job8s.com, an information and technology solution that aims to minimize unemployment in the country.
According to Victory Quiton, WOW Card Inc. president, the website Job@8s offers a free and effective way of manpower recruitment and job searching respectively.
