CITY FIESTA NIGHT BAZAAR OPENS

Thousands of Olongapeños and residents of nearby towns and provinces rushed to FSC Grounds in Subic Bay Freeport Zone on Friday, October 17, 2008 for the opening of the 2008 Night Bazaar which is tagged “BongGAPO”.

The joint efforts of the City government under Mayor James Gordon, Jr., the Freeport Services Corporation and the Olongapo Tourism Department paid of with the successful opening night. The BongGAPO Night Bazaar is one of the fund raising projects of the city fiesta committee in order to sustain the projects of the Olongapo City government on Education and livelihood for the people of Olongapo.

Part of the celebration was a motorcade , followed by a mass and ribbon cutting by Olongapo, Zambales, SBMA and FSC Officials.

In time for the Night Bazaar or Night Market, Mayor Gordon has recorded a song for his second album entitled “BongGAPO” and it will be released last week of October.

Local and Manila- based entertainers, including bands and comedians, provided entertainment through the night to the delight of both visitors and stallholders.

BongGAPO features rides, food and various items at reasonable if not low prices.

“Maganda ang naging resulta ng ating night bazaar, natutuwa ako dahil kahit mahirap ang buhay, may oras pa rin para maglibang ang mga tao, at in return nakakatulong sa ekonomiya ng ating lungsod, kaya maraming salamat sa lahat ng tumangkilik at tatangkilik pa ng ating mga programa,” Mayor Gordon said.

Mayor James “Bong” Gordon, Jr. led the Ribbon Cutting during the opening of the City Fiesta Night Bazaar at the FSC Grounds of Subic Bay Freeport Zone together with SBMA Administrator Armand Arreza and representatives from the private sector.
