RP-US military cooperation to stay
UNITED States Ambassador Kirstie Kenney yesterday expressed belief that newly elected US President Barack Obama will consider the sentiments of Philippine officials on the continued deployment of American troops in the country.
At the same time, the Ambassador said that with the election of Obama, Philippine-US relations will remain strong.
“Whoever wins will certainly look at our issues but I think what we do here is very bipartisan. The US Senate is very familiar with that work,” she said during the Election Watch held at the SM Mall of Asia.
Kenney stressed the US government will continue to be involved in important work in the Philippines.
“I feel very confident that our relations will continue to be very good,” she added.
The Ambassador also said she did not know yet if there will be immigration reforms and what kind of job opportunities will open with the election of a new US president.
Earlier, Defense Secretary Gilbert Teodoro said the Philippine military is benefiting from the joint RP-US exercises and the continued presence of US soldiers in the country.
Teodoro was reacting to criticisms by some quarters opposing the US military presence in the Philippines.
The Defense chief explained the joint military training and exchange of opportunities will go on every year as long as the Visiting Forces Agreement is in effect.
He said the facilities built by the US troops during their stay here will be turned over for Philippine use once the trainings are concluded. By: Cristina Lee-Pisco - Journal Online

This continuous presence of US troops and regular RP-US military training exercises is very vital not only to our defense establishments but also for the prostitution businesses, whether legal or illegal. Pag may Balikatan, siempre libo-libo ang US Troops na maggu-goodtime. Kaya happy ang mga Pinay na nakikipag agawan sa mga "guests" na US Troops. And of course, that is dollar earnings for our poor Filipina girls who are willing to be abused and disgraced by US Troops whenever they take these young girls to their hotel rooms. May maririnig ka pag nagkwentuhan ang mga prostis na kung ano-anong kababuyan ginagawa sa kanila pero bibigyan na lang sila ng "Tips" para tumahimik. Eh, tuwang-tuwa naman si kawawang pinay kasi may extra income siya. Hay, buhay Subic Bay, since time immemorial na yata ang ganyan.

Tanong ko lang, ano ba ang problema kung inaaliw namin na mga prostis ang mga US Troops na may US$? Di ba gagastusin din namin dito sa Pilipinas ang pera? That means more money in circulation that will enhance businesses. Kung puri ang issue naman, luma ng issue iyan, matagal ng nilulunok ng mga mahihirap na kababaihan iyan. Wala naman magagawa ang pamahalaan, pati nga mga liders natin ay may mga "kabit" din na mga batang-bata. Kung sasabihin na tamad kami, aba eh ang hirap bumukaka sa mababahong guests, kaya di rin madali delihensya namin. Hayaan ninyo na kami kahit babuyin basta may panawid gutom lang para sa pamilya. Anong say ninyo mga "malilinis kuno"?
