TOTAL BAN ON FIRECRACKERS - ALL YEAR ROUND!

Olongapo City Mayor James ‘Bong’ Gordon Jr. has clarified that City Ordinance No. 63 (Series of 2008), entitled “The Total Ban of Manufacture, Sale, Distribution, Possession and Use of Firecrackers or Pyrotechnic Devices Within Territorial Jurisdiction of Olongapo City,’’ is in effect all year round.

“Hindi lamang nasasakop ng Total Anti-Firecracker Ban ang buwan ng Disyembre kundi ang kabuuan ng taon. Ipinagbabawal ang pag-gamit ng paputok sa ano mang okasyon tulad ng kasal, binyag, barangay fiesta at iba pa,” said Mayor Gordon during the city government employees’ flag raising ceremony on January 5, 2009 at the Rizal Triangle Multi-Purpose Center.

“The city is enforcing the total ban on all kinds of firecrackers and pyrotechnic devices. We want to ensure the safety and health ng lahat kaya’t ipinapatupad ang total ban na ito. Maaring magdulot lamang ng panganib, pinsala, o kamatayan ang pagpapaputok,” Mayor Gordon added.

Mayor Gordon is asking the full cooperation of the city’s residents concerning the continued implementation of the said ordinance. Citizens can report persons using/selling firecrackers at the Olongapo City Police Office (OCPO) or at Camp Cabal at Barangay Baretto 222-5731.
