CADASTRAL SURVEY IN OLONGAPO
The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Region III is coordinating with the City Government to complete the cadastral survey of the remaining unsurveyed areas of selected towns in Central Luzon, particularly in Olongapo.
In a letter to Mayor James “Bong” Gordon, Jr., Regional Executive Director of DENR Region III Antonio G. Principe has cited Olongapo City as one of chosen city among eight (8) other towns/cities in Central Luzon to be covered by the Cadastral Survey Project. It states that “all barangays within the City of Olongapo shall be surveyed (Establishment of Project Control and Political Boundary) in your area covering an approximate 1,588 hectares, with a total cost of P2,927,999.75.”
“Old control points in these barangays shall likewise be recovered and converted to PRS92 or the Philippines Reference System of 1992.”
DENR is funding this project and has granted the contract to Living Stone Construction and Surveying, headed by its Chief Geodetic Engineer Danny D. Liwanag, with office address in Angeles City, Pampanga. The cadastral survey activities started last January 19, 2009 and is expected to be completed by April 19, 2009.
DENR believes that this initiative will help the city improve tax collections and property valuation efforts, as well as to help settle boundary conflicts and other land disputes under the city’s jurisdiction.
“This is good news to all landowners especially those in the outlying areas in Olongapo. Once the boundary is set and validated and a cadastral survey is accomplished, the titling process will cost less as there’ll be no need for individual lot surveys,” Mayor Gordon said.
