OLONGAPO EARNS PRAISES FROM CANADIAN EXPERTS
Canadian flood experts Stan Taylor and Michael Cooke and Windsor Councilor Percy Hatfield lauded Mayor James “Bong” Gordon, Jr. and the departments of the city government for their outstanding performance as leaders of Olongapo City during the regular session of the City Council on February 11, 2009 at the Session Hall of the Sangguniang Panlungsod.
“This is my first time here in Olongapo City and I’m so impressed with the caliber of your staff,” Hatfield said.
“We are very proud of our partnership with Olongapo City. It’s nice to be back. It’s just like another home,” Taylor said.
Cooke and Taylor expressed appreciation to the contributions of the Mayor’s Office, City Planning and Development Office and other city government departments which helped them in their researches. “Your city government is very committed to our project,” Cooke said.
They have been coming to Olongapo for the sixth time around and became part of the improvement in the city especially on land use and watershed management.
The City Council filed and approved unanimously a resolution conferring the title “Adopted son of Olongapo” to Michael Cooke, manager of Planning Policy of the city of Windsor, Ontario, Canada and Engr. Stanley Taylor of the Essex Region Conservation Authority, respectively.
Present during the session were Olongapo First Lady and Zambales Vice Governor Anne Marie Gordon, the city councilors and some government employees.
