CENTRAL LUZON COOPERATIVE CONGRESS
The City Cooperative Development Council and the Olongapo City Local Government Unit sponsored the 1st Central Luzon Cooperative Congress in coordination with the Cooperative Development Authority (CDA-III) and Central Luzon Cooperative Development Council (CLCDC) held at the Olongapo City Convention Center on March 9-11, 2009.
The 3-day event with the theme: “Partnership for Globally Competitive Cooperatives” was participated in by more than One Thousand delegates from the different Cooperative Development Councils of Central Luzon and the members and officilas of the Olongapo City Cooperative Development Council.
Senator Richard Gordon, Mayor James “Bong” Gordon , Jr., Olongapo First Lady and Zambales Vice Governor Anne Marie Gordon, Senator Juan Miguel Zubiri, Social Enterprise Institute Director Bienvenido Nito and CDA Regional Director Manuel Mar delivered messages before the delegates of the Council.
Its general objective is to develop and strengthen cooperatives through cooperative development councils (CDC’s); Specifically identify, organize, and strengthen CDC’s in the provinces, cities and municipalities; Come up with united plans, programs, projects and activities; Effective partnership and complementation of the government sector, private groups and civil society.
The event culminated with a short tour around Olongapo City and Subic Bay Freeport Zone (SBFZ) and Mt. Pinatubo-Zambales .
The following awards were given to the deserving municipalities, cities and provincial cooperative sectors:
