Cops rescue teener in Olongapo music lounge
A 17-year old girl was rescued by government authorities during a raid at a music lounge Olongapo City Saturday, police said.
The raid was conducted in Brill St., West Bajac-bajac in Olongapo City shortly before midnight.
Authorities arrested the floor manager of the music lounge identified as Amorsolo Lundang, 55.
“Anita” (not her real name) worked as guest relations officer (GRO) at Ofel's Music Lounge for several months despite being a minor. She was reportedly recruited by an unidentified lady who allegedly promised her a decent job but landed her as an entertainer.
Senior Superintendent Marvin Bolabola, 3rd Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit (3CIDU) chief, said a concerned citizen sought the help of authorities after learning of the sad plight of the young girl.
Bolabola said he directed his men from Zambales Criminal Investigation and Detection Team (ZCIDT) headed by Chief Inspector Rogelio Ponce Peñones, to initiate surveillance operations against the music lounge and subsequently launch a rescue mission.
Peñones also sought the assistance of the Olongapo City Social Welfare and Development Office and local police’s anti-indecency task force for the rescue of “Anita”, a resident of Purok 1, Barangay Cabalan.
On Saturday, Bolabola said the raiding team launched a surprised check at the establishment and found Anita in one corner obviously waiting for a customer.
Except for employing a minor, authorities said the music lounge has all the necessary business and health permits issued by the City Hall.
Last Wednesday, three teenage girls, reportedly forced to work as GRO's, were rescued by the same group at the Meteor Garden Videoke situated in Barangay Amungan in Iba town in Zambales.
The minors were brought to the social welfare development office for debriefing before they were sent back home and reunited with their parents.
Bolabola said Lundang is presently detained at the ZCIDT detention cell pending the filing of human trafficking and child abuse cases in court against him. -Jess Malabanan - ABS CBN
