‘GARANTISADONG PAMBATA’ PROGRAM IMPLEMENTATION INTENSIFIES
The Olongapo City Government has taken steps to intensify the implementation of the ‘Garantisadong Pambata’ (GP) Program in the seventeen (17) barangay health centers.
City Health Office head Dr. Arnildo Tamayo said Mayor James ‘’Bong’’ Gordon, Jr. has thrown full support to the program in a bid to reduce childhood illness and mortality through the promotion of childhood health practices.
‘’Tuloy-tuloy ang Garantisadong Pambata Program at patuloy rin ang suportang ibinibigay ni Mayor Bong Gordon dito. Kaya sa susunod na buwan ay magsisimula nang mag-ikot ang ating mga health workers upang magbigay ng mga health services na may kaugnay sa programa,’’ Dr. Tamayo said during the flag raising ceremony of government officials and employees on March 23, 2009.
This April, as the nation will be celebrating the second round of the ‘Garantisadong Pambata 2009’ the city’s activities include a month long delivery of health services babies aged from zero (0) week to six (6) years old to be spearheaded by the Olongapo Government through the City Health Office (CHO) and the Department of Health (DOH).
City Nutrition Action Officer Richel Eve A. Torralba, said around 37,000 capsules of vitamin A from DOH will be distributed to intended beneficiaries next month.
‘’The city government headed by Mayor Gordon is working very hard to further curb malnutrition especially among schoolchildren’’ Torralba said.
The CHO is likewise encouraging parents and guardians to bring their 0- 6 years old children to there respective Barangay Health Centers to be able to undergo vaccination with Bacillus Calmette-Guérin (BCG) against tuberculosis, Diphtheria Pertussis and Tetanus (DPT) a mixture of three vaccines and Oral Polio Vaccine (OPV) to combat poliomyelitis or polio.
