WHEELCHAIRS FOR PWDs
At least four (4) Persons With Disabilities (PWDs) were given free wheelchairs from Wheelchairs for the World, a private organization based in the United Kingdom (UK) on May 11, 2009.
According to the group’s Philippine Representative Voltaire Tagle, “Wheelchairs for the World wants PWDs in the Philippines to still lead a normal life. I have volunteered my time to help our hometown, Olongapo City, in securing more wheelchairs which will surely benefit more PWDs.”
Mayor James “Bong” Gordon, Jr. is pleased with the admirable objective of Wheelchairs for the World.
“Most PWDs do not have access to a wheelchair and have to be carried around by their family. I hope that these wheelchairs will help them move around and be able to engage in more activities,” said Gordon.
The City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) headed by Gene Eclarino is in charge of finding and screening poor but deserving PWDs to become beneficiaries of said wheelchairs. CSWDO is still looking for more beneficiaries in Olongapo.
“Hangga’t may nangangailangan, handa ang Wheelchairs for the World na magbigay,” said Tagle, “nakatutulong ito na suportahan pa rin ang mga proyekto at programa ni Mayor Gordon para sa mga PWDs.”

its best that you go to the mayor's office. you will be directed to DSWD to verify the need and its really is a fairly easy transaction.
