Gordon aide seriously injured in Zambales car accident
A member of Senator Richard Gordon's staff is in serious condition and will undergo surgery for the removal of his right eye after figuring in a vehicular accident in Brgy. Aningway, Subic, Zambales Saturday afternoon.
Gordon, chairman of the Philippine National Red Cross, said he and his PNRC team were on their way to Botolan town in Zambales to distribute medical supplies to people affected by typhoon "Kiko" there when the accident took place at about 1:30 p.m.
Joel Anglo, 54, Gordon's long-time aide, suffered from severe head injuries after the car he was riding crashed with a slow-moving truck. Anglo was riding a vehicle that was part of Gordon’s convoy.
Gordon said doctors would closely monitor Anglo’s condition for at least two days due to the blood clot in his brain. He said Anglo would undergo eye surgery after his condition improves.
The senator said doctors "are optimistic" that his aide would recover. - ANDREO C. CALONZO, GMANews.TV
