Gordon unhurt in mishap

SENATOR Richard Gordon was unhurt when his vehicle figured in a vehicular mishap in Subic, Zambales, last Saturday while he and his staff were on their way to a calamity rescue mission in the province.

However, Gordon’s two staff identified as Jeffrey Paano and Joel Angulo were seriously injured when they hit a dump truck that got stalled along the national highway in Bgy. Aningway-Sacatihan in Subic reportedly due to an earlier road accident.

An investigation showed that Gordon was on board his Toyota Fortuner with plate number ZBM-271 when it was accidentally hit from behind by his back-up vehicle being driven by Paano.

The vehicle, a Toyota Revo with plate no. XFF-179 then smashed into the dump truck, seriously injuring Paano and his passenger Angulo. Both were taken to the James Gordon Memorial Hospital for treatment.

Police Regional Office 3 director, Chief Supt. Leon Nilo A. de la Cruz said that Gordon’s two vehicles were heavily-damaged in the accident.

The senator was on his way to help in the rescue and relief operations for thousands of Zambales residents affected by flooding triggered by a collapsed dike in the province. By: Alfred P. Dalizon - Journal online
