CENSUS 2010: BE COUNTED
Mayor James “Bong” Gordon, Jr. has encouraged the officials and employees of the Local Government of Olongapo City to lead the dissemination of information on the General Census on Population and Housing (CPH).
In a statement, City Civil Registry officer Keren Cajudo informed the government officials and employees that Census started on May 17, 2010 and will end on June 9, 2010, adding that, ‘’Ang sensus ay batay sa Article I, Section 2 ng Saligang Batas, isinasagawa ito isang beses bawat limang taon batay sa tinatakda ng Census Bureau na bilangin ang bawat indibidwal na naninirahan sa isang bansa, anuman ang pagkamamamayan (citizenship) o estado.’’
Every household will be given Census 2010 form while those who are not given the form may get their forms at ‘Be Counted Sites’ around the community.
“The 2010 Census form consists of ten (10) easy questions that can be answered in 10 minutes. 10 basic questions, including name, sex, age and date of birth, race, household relationship and if a person owns or rents their home. The 2010 Census does not ask about bank account information, salary or income, citizenship or immigration status. Make sure that everyone in the household will be counted,” Cajudo said.
“The Census data collected is important because this determines how much money to allocate to a city or province for projects and services like road construction, vocational education, and small-business development centers,” Mayor Gordon concluded.
