Mike Macapagal organizing a business forum
Mike is a uniquely successful businessman in the US -- unique in that he owns and manages the largest escrow company in Northern California and the only one of its kind owned by a Pinoy. According to him, on a visit to Manila at the height of the presidential campaign (where he and his father hit the road across Central Luzon for Noynoy), he met Robert Sears, executive director of the American Chamber of Commerce, and other officers of the joint chambers conducting a business seminar in a Makati hotel.
"Why don’t you mount an expanded version of this to help the Philippine economy when Noynoy Aquino wins?" he asked them.
"Sure, if you’ll organize it," came the reply. .
Well, Noynoy has won and Mike Macapagal, who agreed to take up the challenge of AmCham and the joint chambers, has returned to Manila to work on the details of the economioc forum. According to him, he hopes to hold it at the SBMA convention center in Subic.
Asked why an overseas Pinoy like him is so gung-ho about helping the country, he gave two reasons. "First, I’m a Filipino. Second, I have to redeem the name Macapagal."
