P7-billion twin tower hotel and casino to rise in Subic

By MAR T. SUPNAD

A Korean investor is building a R7-billion Twin Tower hotel, called Subic Paradise Condominium Hotel and Casino, together with a Retirees’ Village inside the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA).

This was learned from Antonio ‘Tony Boy’ Aquino, chief executive officer of the Technical Information Assistance of the Philippines, Inc. (TIAP), a non-government organization which helped facilitate the approval of the project that is expected to boost the tourism industry and real estate leisure in Subic.

A former chairman of the Special Projects for economic affairs of the House of Representatives, Aquino will be the incoming chairman of the company that owns the project.

He said that a team of professional managers to be led by Mr. Suk Jae (Steeve) Yoo who will be the president and chief executive officer, shall manage the proposed Subic Paradise Condominium Hotel and Retirees’ Village, the first ever to be put up here.

"The establishment of a Retirement village is a long dream of Mr. Yoo whose prospective beneficiaries and clients are retirees and senior citizens both foreign and domestic from nearby Asian countries. This would be having an area ranging from one hectare to as big as 4,000 hectares," pointed out Aquino.

Aquino said the Retirement Village will be equipped with state-of-the-art facilities "Specially designed for retirees and senior citizens for them to enjoy their whims and caprices," as their second home.

The construction of the said project came at a time when the Ayala Land Inc., has now started constructing its ambitious R9-billion International resort, hotels, high class villas, and housing units in the nearby towns of Morong, a few minutes drive from SBMA. It was learned from Morong Mayor Burt Linao whose town hosts the project, that the phase one of the proposed project is almost been sold out.

A former US military base, Subic Bay, which is located in Bataan province, has become an industrial center and a favorite shopping destination for local and foreign tourists because of its duty free shops.

Aquino said the location of the project is very accessible due to its proximity to Metro Manila and Central Luzon. Travel time from Metro Manila to Subic is only two hours by land and this would be further shortened once the construction of the R28.5-billion Subic-Clark-Tarlac super highway flagship project is finished.

He proudly reported that the Subic Paradise Condominium-Hotel and Casino West Wing would be conveniently located near the convention facilities and the stunning five-acre tropical gardens and pool area. It is connected to the main casino by an enclosed walkway lined with unique boutiques, the Tropical lounge and the famous inland buffet. It also offers rooms where guests will be surrounded with lush, tropical foliage, waterfalls, towering palms, and sparkling pools.
