REPRESENTATIVES of three Taiwan-based companies visited the Subic Bay Freeport last month to look for suitable locations for expanding their Southeast Asian operations, Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority Administrator Armand Arreza said.
Late last year, 10 Taiwanese companies committed to invest $1 billion in new projects at the free port zone northwest of Manila. Taiwan Economic Minister Ho Mei-Yueh was in the country at the time for a joint economic forum.
Arreza identified the new prospective Taiwanese investors as Asama Bicycle Corp., Overseas Chinese Credit Guarantee Fund, and the Hsin Kuo Group.
Asama is a leading bike manufacturer in Asia, Arreza said.
The Ksin Kuo group wants to produce shoe lines for women for export to Western markets, he said.
Overseas Chinese Credit Guarantee Fund wants to offer financial credit to Taiwanese companies and other locators in Subic, he said
