Wanted ex-SBMA treasury employee falls

SUBIC Bay Freeport ` After five years of hiding, a former Treasury employee of Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority was nabbed by operatives of the Zambales Criminal Investigation and Detection Team Thursday morning for alleged malversation of funds.
ZCIDT provincial officer Supt. Christopher Tambungan identified the suspect as Marissa Cabral Torres, 48, of 24-E Kumpang St., Binictican Drive, SBMA.
She was arrested at 8:30 a.m. by virtue of a warrant issued by Judge Reynaldo Roura for two counts of malversation of public funds by falsifying public documents.
Torres was employed as Cashier II at Treasury Department in 1996 and Accountant at Seaport Department in August 1999.
Torres issued several official receipts to SBMA customers for $3,200 which do not tally with the amount in the duplicates.
The suspect was allowed to post P80,000 bail for her temporary liberty.
Meanwhile, in San Narciso, Zambales, ZCIDT operatives nabbed a couple who operate a pawnshop for allegedly swindling a Pakistani in Bulacan.
Tambungan said Alberto Sanchez, 42, and his wife Rosalina, 40, owner of Sanchez Pawnshop in Barangay Libertad, were arrested Wednesday by virtue of warrants issued by Judge Guillermo Alogro of Malolos, Bulacan and Judge Eranio Cedillo, Sr., of the Meycauayan Municipal Trial Court.
The suspects were allowed to post P42,000 bail each. With Alfred Dalizon
