Mendaros joins war against poverty
Olongapo City. A successful banker and real estate businessman Edwin Mendaros joins the war against poverty in Zambales and Olongapon City by strongly supporting the small community drugstore project called Botika Natin sa Nayon of the Zambales War Against Poverty Foundation, Inc. and Zambales vice governor Ramon Lacbain II and even committed to launch more projects for the poor.
Mendaros made this commitment after witnessing the opening of Botika Natin sa Nayon inside Baloy Beach at barangay Barretto in Olongapo City that was also attended by Olongapo City councilor and Association of Barangay Captains (ABC) president Carlito Baloy and many fisherfolks within the area.
"I join vice governor Lacbain in his war against poverty and I also commit to initiate more projects for the poor. This small community drugstore project is a great idea of being able to bring good quality medicines at very low prices closest to the people right in their respective community", according to Mendaros who run for congressman in the second district of Zambales during the last elections.
"If there are now 146 small community drugstores, then we must double that number and ensure that more Botika Natin sa Nayon are established in remote communities in northern Zambales so that more families can avail of this project", Mendaros further states as he vows to mobilize more support from many Zambalenos within and outside the Philippines.
Aside from Botika Natin sa Nayon project, vice governor Lacbain and Mendaros have agreed to jointly undertake series of projects that will alleviate many Zambalenos from poverty such as the Tindahan Natin project in partnership with the National Food Authority and the Department of Social Welfare and Development to bring rice and noodles at low prices to clusters of barangays; the Kalikasan Natin project in partnership with the Billion Trees Foundation and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources to encourage many young people who are unemployed to plant trees in vacant lots and deforested areas of Zambales; the Aklatan Natin project in partnership with the Books for Barrios Foundation in the United States to provide books and other reading materials to many public schools; among many others that are geared for the benefit of many Zambalenos who are afflicted with poverty.
