Castillejos-Subic road inaugurated

Subic Bay Freeport -- The road being constructed by Hanjin Heavy Industries Construction Co. Ltd. (HHIC), connecting Balaybay in Castillejos, and Cawag in Subic was inaugurated today by Her Excellency President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, at the cost of P653 million.

This road access with a length of 16.5 kilometer was under the Memorandum of Understanding between the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA), and Hanjin. will ushered the creation of employment opportunities within the neighboring communities.

More so, the road project will complement the ongoing construction of the new container port under the Subic Port Development Project and the Subic-Clark Toll Road Project, both funded by Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC).

The event was hosted by Hanjin along the with Provincial Government of Zambales along with mayors of local government units.

During the speech of PGMA, she congratulated the skilled workers of Hanjin for having been trained overseas in their respective skills and having manufactured 33 ships worth US$150- million for exports. Likewise, Hanjin is the 4th largest shipbuilder in the world today. (by Recto Mangosing Adamos - PIA Zambales)
