OLONGAPO PINAKA-CHILD FRIENDLY MULI SA REGION-3

Muli na namang kinilala ng Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) ang Olongapo bilang Regional Winner sa 2007 Search for Child Friendly Cities-Highly Urbanized Category.

Sa awarding ceremony na ginanap sa DSWD Regional Office sa San Fernando, Pampanga nitong ika-4 ng Disyembre 2007, sa ngalan ni City Mayor James ‘’Bong’’ Gordon, Jr. ay tinanggap nina Vice-Mayor Cynthia Cajudo at City Social Welfare and Development Office Head Gene Eclarino ang plaque at ang halagang limampung-libong pisong (P50,000.00) cash incentive buhat sa ahensiya.

Kasama rin sa mga tumanggap ng award buhat kay Regional Sub-Committee for the Welfare of Children (SCWC) Chairperson and DSWD OIC-Regional Director Minda B. Brigoli ang mga kinatawan buhat sa City Health, City Planning and Development Office (CPDO), Department of Education at Public Affairs Office (PAO).

Buhat ng simulan ang kompetisyon noong 1999 ay tuloy-tuloy na nag-number 1 ang Olongapo sa mga taong 2001, 2002, 2003, 2006 at ngayong 2007. Ang Search for the Presidential Award for the Most Child-friendly ay taunang kompetisyon ng mga lungsod at munisipalidad batay sa Executive Order 184 na naglalayong bumuo ang bawat lugar sa bansa ng mga programa at proyektong may kaugnayan sa kabataan.
