Gapo CDCC does it again

The Olongapo City Disaster Coordinating Council was recently adjudged as the best in Central Luzon this year, the winner for the seventh consecutive year.
As the region’s best, the Olongapo CDCC will compete with other regional winners in the National Gawad Kalasag Highly Urbanized Cities category.
Las year, Olongapo took home the Gawad Kalasag award besting the Disaster Coordinating Councils of Makati City and Dagupan City. It was the third time the city was conferred the covered award. The first two were in 2002 and 2003.
City Mayor James “Bong” Gordon, Jr. said Olongapo is proud that the rigorous training, dedication, swift response and efficient performance of local rescuers in times of calamities are being appreciated.
The recognition is given annually by the Department of Interior and Local Government and the National Disaster Coordinating Council.
